Music exposes everyone to rhyme, rhythm, and repetition, which are some of the same skills needed to learn to read. Because poetry has cadence, rhythm, and rhyme, music may be used to complement it. Music may benefit children with learning difficulties. The language of music is understood by all cultures.

Poem #1
I HAVE NO SHOES
Poem #0002
Sometimes we’re caught complaining, about life’s ups and downs
And how we never get a real good break
But I’m here to tell you friend, before you go too far
Complaining, is your first big mistake
I once complained I had no shoes, till I met a man who had no feet
See the man in the wheelchair, trying to cross the street
But no one stops to lend a helping hand
I bet he’d give the world, if he could walk along the beach
And feel the warm sand beneath his feet
I once complained I had no shoes, till I met a man who had no feet
You could be the man in prison, who’s freedom is denied
Or the little girl in the hospital, who knows she’s going to die
Just think of them the next time, you want to complain
Then tell me that you still feel the same
I once complained I had no shoes, till I met a man who had no feet
